LANSING, Mich. – Veteran TV newsman Tim Dye is a new vice president of Truscott Rossman and will be based in the growing Grand Rapids office of the award-winning strategic communications firm.

Dye, most recently news director at WXYZ-TV in Detroit and former news director at WXMI-TV in Grand Rapids, brings a strong reputation in both communities to Truscott Rossman, which is headquartered in Lansing.

A Saginaw native who now calls Grand Rapids home, Dye will guide the firm’s regional business development efforts in West Michigan, while using his WXYZ experience to increase Truscott Rossman’s presence in Detroit. He will provide strategic communications support for Truscott Rossman clients across the state.

“Truscott Rossman has grown to the point where we needed an executive presence in Grand Rapids,” said Kelly Rossman-McKinney, CEO and principal. “The fact that Tim can bring his expertise to bear in Detroit as well means we are well-positioned on both sides of the state.”

Likewise, Dye’s vast knowledge of the news business provides a cutting edge to the firm’s widely recognized media relations.

“Journalists know and respect Truscott Rossman for giving them the straight-skinny,” said John Truscott, president and principal. “Tim’s reputation for delivering reliable, valuable information is perfectly aligned with what we already do and will greatly enhance it.”

Dye was assistant news director at WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids from 1993 to 1998. Prior to that he worked for WNEM-TV in Saginaw and WOTV-TV in Grand Rapids. He has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and broadcasting from Central Michigan University.

He is a member of the Radio Television Digital News Association, the Society of Professional Journalists and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

“Truscott Rossman has a great reputation and a rapidly growing presence in West Michigan,” Dye said. “I look forward to blending my media experience with the firm’s strategic communications expertise.”

Truscott Rossman represents local, statewide, national and international clients from its offices in Lansing, Grand Rapids and Detroit.
