Disruption in the Election Cycle

I was speaking with a very bright group of MSU students yesterday and told them they’re living through one of the most interesting and disruptive political cycles in a century. The electorate is fed up and they’re taking it out on the politicians. It’s a blaring siren for any incumbent this fall.

Donald Trump has completely re-written the rule book on campaigns and dumbfounded all the pundits. This election is the biggest reality show – ever. His complete domination of the news cycle will be the subject of books for years to come and will probably never be duplicated.

And who would have ever thought that a self-proclaimed socialist would make a credible run? Doesn’t anybody know their history?

We could end up with the biggest “outsider” President, or possibly even a President who did not campaign, but receives the nomination at the convention.

You can’t make this stuff up.

As we’ve heard astronauts say – “Houston, we have a problem”

Well, “We the people” may not have a problem, but the establishment political class certainly does. Their world may be turned completely upside down in a few months.

Our choice may be someone we don’t like versus someone we don’t trust. Or we may not like, or trust either one. We’re in for a true test as a country. All I can say is “Good luck.”
