Truscott Rossman Adds John Whetstone to Growing Bipartisan Public Affairs Team

LANSING, MI – Truscott Rossman, a growing Detroit-based integrated communications and storytelling firm, welcomes John Whetstone as its new director of public affairs today. Whetstone will be based in TR’s Lansing office, working statewide to deliver winning outcomes for bipartisan public affairs clients.

“We are fortunate to add such a talented storyteller and advocate to our growing bipartisan team,” said John Truscott, CEO of Truscott Rossman. “John is well respected in Lansing and across the state for his decades of good work in the Michigan Legislature. Plus, as an award-winning screenwriter, he’s proven that he knows how to engage audiences.”

With over 25 years of experience working with Republican lawmakers in the Michigan House of Representatives, Whetstone has created and implemented communications plans for many new public policy initiatives. Always offering keen insight and sound strategic counsel, he successfully developed messaging and branding materials, enhanced visibility and image for the organization and individual lawmakers, and managed stakeholders to help achieve winning outcomes. During his tenure, Whetstone played an integral role in helping the communications team transition into the digital media realm. He is particularly proud of conceiving a viral social media video that honored Memorial Day in 2018.

“I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter with a terrific group of brilliant strategists,” said John Whetstone, Director of Public Affairs at Truscott Rossman. “Since the firm’s founding, Truscott Rossman has been synonymous with winning outcomes for bipartisan causes and clients, and I’m proud to join the team.”

In addition to his background in the legislature, Whetstone is a former newspaper reporter and editor who earned a journalism degree from Michigan State University. He’s also an accomplished screenwriter whose films have been screened at film festivals worldwide.
