Public Affairs and Media Relations / Community Corrections Facility
Truscott Rossman worked with a local community corrections facility operator to launch the opening of its Walnut & Park café, which helps train recently released prisoners and prepare them to re-enter the workforce. Our team planned two opening events for the cafe. The first was a VIP event for stakeholders and people interested in the rehabilitative programs operated by the community corrections operator. The second was a public grand opening. TR secured pre-opening and opening day coverage from six media outlets including two TV stations and MLive.
The program and supporting media coverage was so well received that Governor Rick Snyder chose to sign new criminal justice reform measures at the cafe on that same year. The Governor was joined by the Michigan Senate Majority Leader, the Michigan House Speaker and many other lawmakers and stakeholders as well as the organization’s president and CEO, helping to cement relationships between the company and key state leaders.
