After serving four years as Director of Communications and Government Affairs for the Michigan Department of Attorney General, Andrea Bitely brings to Truscott Rossman a wealth of traditional and digital media experience that few can match.
In her time with the Michigan Attorney General, Andrea managed the day-to-day communications as well as long term planning for the department’s legislative and communications strategy. She was also responsible for rapid-response and crisis communications, ensuring the public had quick access and accurate information on some of the state’s most high profile issues.
Clients can count on Andrea to have some of the best media relationships in the industry. She has been quoted in media outlets as far ranging as the Mining Journal and Detroit News to the New York Times and FOX News.
Prior to joining the Michigan Attorney General’s office, Andrea was the first person to be named director of social media for POLITICO, a Washington D.C.-based news outlet. The publication’s Facebook and Twitter followers grew to more than 1 million under her leadership. She worked closely with representatives from social media companies to launch pilot projects at POLITICO to benefit news outlets worldwide.
Andrea cut her teeth on public relations in Washington at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – first with the Institute for Legal Reform and then with the Chamber Foundation.
An alumna of Western Michigan University, Andrea majored in political science with an emphasis on public policy. She has also guest lectured on social media and political campaigns at the University of Michigan and has guest hosted numerous podcasts and radio programs.
