The Rossman Group and Michigan Transportation Team Honored at PACE Awards
“Message in a Bottle” receives People’s Choice Award for Creative Tactics
LANSING, Mich. — The Rossman Group and the Michigan Transportation Team (MTT) were honored today at the 2010 annual PACE Awards Luncheon with a Pinnacle Award for their “Message in a Bottle” entry and the People’s Choice Award in the Creative Tactics category.
“We are proud that MTT has been recognized with an award-winning communications tactic as part of our advocacy campaign to fix Michigan’s transportation infrastructure,” said Mike Nystrom, executive vice president of the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association (MITA) and co-chair of the Michigan Transportation Team (MTT). “Our coalition is constantly using creative ways to get legislative attention, so it’s nice to be recognized.”
The People’s Choice Award for Tactics recognizes the entry voted Best in Show by attendees at the 2010 PACE Awards.
“Unfortunately, Michigan has miles and miles of crummy, crumbling roads, so finding the raw materials for our ‘Message in a Bottle’ was no problem,” Kelly Rossman-McKinney, CEO of The Rossman Group, said of the bottled gravel delivered to every Michigan lawmaker. “We took it a step further and packaged it in a way that really made the message go down easy – and effectively!”
The Rossman Group was also honored with a Pinnacle Award for its 2010 Calendar in the Special Purpose Publications category and its Lobby Guide in the Marketing Consumer Products & Services category.
The PACE Awards are presented each year by the Central Michigan Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Awards are given to public relations practitioners who implemented the most successful communication tactics and campaigns in the past year. This year’s awards were judged by the Northwest Ohio PRSA chapter.
