Truscott Rossman Earns National Recognition with PRSA Bronze Anvil Award

LANSING – Truscott Rossman, Michigan’s premier bipartisan strategic communications firm, received a national 2011 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation from the Public Relations Society of America for its work with the Detroit Medical Center.

Truscott Rossman was the only Michigan-based firm to receive a Bronze Anvil, which honors the execution of an individual public relations tactic within a broader public relations campaign. PRSA is the nation’s largest organization of public relations professionals and students.

The firm was honored for a press conference it arranged in March 2010 to announce the sale of the nonprofit Detroit Medical Center to Vanguard Health Systems, a Nashville, Tenn.-based investor-owned corporation. The sale, which was completed on Dec. 30, faced a number of potential challenges from the community, local elected officials and state regulators.

“With careful planning and strategic thinking, Truscott Rossman helped DMC solidify the community and political support needed for a smooth transition to new ownership,” said Kelly Rossman-McKinney, CEO of Truscott Rossman. “DMC accomplished all of its desired outcomes and more.”

The Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation was created by PRSA in 1969 to recognize exceptional public relations tactics. The entries are judged by a team of PRSA members and other experts in specific categories. A maximum of two Bronze Anvil Awards of Commendation are awarded for each category.

“This honor is more evidence of the talent and energy Truscott Rossman brings to its work with every client,” said John Truscott, president of Truscott Rossman.

Bronze Anvil winners were recognized during the 2011 Silver Anvil Awards Evening held June 9 at the Equitable Tower in New York.
