Enhancing Community Engagement Through Digital Innovation

Delhi Township

The
Challenge

Delhi Township, located in Holt, Michigan, is distinguished by its extensive network of non-motorized trails, designed for walking, cycling, running, and nature enthusiasts. Despite the trails’ popularity and potential to attract more visitors, there was a significant gap in effectively communicating and navigating the trails and the surrounding community. The existing channels did not provide an interactive or user-friendly way for residents and visitors to explore the variety of trails, understand their locations, or plan their visits. This gap hindered the full utilization and appreciation of the trails, affecting local tourism and community engagement.

The
Response

To address this challenge, Delhi Township partnered with Truscott Rossman to develop a dedicated microsite for the Delhi Township Trails. The microsite aimed to enhance the visibility of the trails, promote outdoor activities within the community, and improve user experience through an interactive and mobile-friendly design.

The microsite features include:

    • Detailed descriptions of each trail, including Esker Landing Park, Holt Rd Trailhead Park, Ram Trail, Sycamore Trail, and Valhalla Trail, offering insights into the unique aspects and attractions of each path.
    • An interactive All Trails Map with geolocation capabilities, enabling users to easily find trails near them and plan their routes effectively.
    • Information on the long-term plan to link most of Delhi Township with interconnected non-motorized pathways and to connect them with surrounding communities’ trails.
    • Mobile-friendly design ensuring accessibility and usability across various devices, allowing users to navigate the site and plan their journeys on-the-go.
